Small public service vehicles (SPSV) refers to taxis, hackneys and limousines.
The National Transport Authority is the licensing authority for vehicle licences, while An Garda Síochána is the licensing authority for the issue and renewal of SPSV driver licences – the licence to drive a taxi, hackney or limousine.
The TFI Driver Check App can be downloaded for free from Google Play and the iTunes store. The app allows passengers to check that their driver is licenced and they can forward this information to a friend. This is to provide peace of mind to the user that they are travelling safely and that there is a record of their trip.
